FRIENDLY PARKING SERVICE, INC.
Friendly Parking (Now Preferred Parking) introduced monthly draft payments to the parking industry at the 1967 National Parking Association Convention in Las Vegas Nevada.

 

Originally founded as Friendly Parking Service in 1961 by the Stacks family in Charlotte, NC with one 34 space surface parking lot, Preferred Parking Service has served the Carolinas region for 45 years. 

 

“OVER FOUR DECADES OF EXPERIENCE” 

 

Incorporated in 1965, Friendly Parking searched for more efficient ways of doing business. In 1967 Friendly pioneered the first bank drafts for monthly parking. In 1986 Friendly Parking changed it’s name to Preferred Parking Service 

 

“INNOVATION IMPEDES STAGNATION”

The son of the original owners, Roger Stacks joined the company in 1984, purchasing the company from his family in 1989. Under his leadership Preferred has grown to operate more than 60 locations across the region. With more than 250 full and part-time experienced associates, Preferred Parking is poised to support the region through its continuing development.

1961

Company founded as Friendly Parking Service in Charlotte, NC.

1965

Incorporated as Friendly Parking Service, Inc.

1967

Introduction of the industry first automatic draft method of payment for monthly parking at the National Parking Association Convention in Las Vegas Nevada.

1986

Friendly Parking Service, Inc. renamed as Preferred Parking Service, Inc.

1987

Development of Preferred Parking Service proprietary parking management software.

1989

Preferred Parking Service, Inc. purchased by Roger Stacks entering a new era in growth and expansion.

1992

Installation of the first after-hours coin unit in Charlotte, NC.

1996

Donation of first bicycles to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for first bicycle patrols.

1997

Implementation of the first direct deposits to landlord/owner accounts.

1998

Purchase of the historic “Frederick” building in Charlotte NC. Renovations begin.

2001

The historic “Frederick” building opens for residential use.

2001

First interactive parking management web site introduced, www.preferredparking.com. The first successful test of online enrollment with 1500 new parkers enrolled in 5 days during a garage opening, with no additional labor extended.

2003

Awarded an honorable mention by the International Parking Institute for the best use technology for www.preferredparking.com

2004

Awarded the prestigious Blue Diamond Award by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for Best Use of Information Technology for Customer Service for www.preferredparking.com
2005 First digital pay stations on surface lots in Charlotte.
2008 First SKIDATA equipment installation in the Charlotte region.
